Chemotherapy:

Chemotherapy is one of the ways for treatment of cancer or temporary alleviation of it using certain medications which is called chemotherapy in medical parlance. The main task of these special medications is to eliminate diseased cells without damaging adjacent tissues. This type of treatment also has effects on the cells and tissues of the body. One of the effects of this treatment is the loss of body hair, dry skin and weight loss.

Chemotherapy is a common practice in the treatment of diseases that destroys cells and in particular the cells of microorganisms and cancer cells, using chemical drugs and chemical substances. The definition of chemotherapy is not limited to drugs used to treat malignant tumor, but it includes antibiotics as well.

What is chemotherapy?

Chemotherapy is a type of cancer treatment in which a drug is used to destroy cancer cells.

How does chemotherapy work?

Chemotherapy reduces or stops the growth of cancer cells that split up and grow with a high rate. But chemotherapy can damage healthy cells, especially those with high growth, such as oral, intestinal and hair epithelial cells. Side effects are usually attenuated or completely disappear after the completion of chemotherapy.

What does chemotherapy do?

Depending on the type of cancer and its severity, chemotherapy can:

Cure cancer: If chemotherapy destroys cancer cells to a degree that the doctor can no longer find a trace of it in the body and the disease does not relapse.

Control the cancer: If chemotherapy prevents the spread of cancer cells, reduces its growth rate, or destroys the cancer cells that already have been spread in different parts of the body.

Improving Cancer Symptoms: (It's also called "palliative treatment") if chemotherapy diminishes a tumor that causes pressure or pain.
